One mother gave birth in the SEWA Rural Hospital in the Aanjoli village of Gujarat, which receives support from Share & Care. The child was underweight, so she was admitted to the Sick Newborn Care Unit. Once she had begun growing more normally, the baby and mother were sent home. Read more
Manjulaben Nareshbhai Pujara earns a living in Gujarat through animal husbandry. She is a founding member of the Shrinayth Mahila Bachat Mandal (savings group), which was formed in 2012 in association with the Anjali Society for Rural Health and Development, supported by Share & Care. Read more

Saroj Gurjar is a 21-year-old woman from a rural area of Rajasthan. Her family of seven is supported only by her father’s farm work, and their financial needs often go unmet. Saroj has been interested in creative activities since childhood, and she learned about the Grameen Vikas Shodh Evam Takniki Kendra (GVSTK) program, supported by Share & Care, in November of 2021. As a child, Varsha Baraiya loved music, painting, henna art, and cooking. She was a fantastic student, and she loved helping her siblings study and succeed in school, too. She aspired to become a doctor, and her hard work in school paid off, earning her a place in the K.J. Mehta General Hospital and College of Medical Sciences in Gujarat. Read more
Sonal Chaudhary and her husband Mohan are both physically disabled and live in rural Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat. She always found her disability challenging in many aspects of life, but it was particularly challenging financially. Read more
Farukh Menon is a Lokmitra, or “friend of the people,” serving with the Environmental Sanitation Institute (ESI), supported by Share & Care, in the village of Chadotar in Gujarat. As a Lokmitra, Farukh strives to sow the seeds of connection, cooperation, and compassion to uplift his village. Read more
Gayatri Shinde is a 9th-grader who lives with her parents in a rented room in the Asalpha village in Mumbai. She is a sincere and hardworking young girl who loves to dance and excels academically. Two years ago, her father, the sole earner of the family, lost his job, and the family has struggled financially since. Read more
Anil Bhai is a Lokmitra serving with ESI, supported by Share & Care, in the village of Waghjipur in Gujarat. Anil is passionate about nutrition, and upon learning about the benefits of natural farming, he decided to engage his community through organic gardening. Read more
